This building played an important role in the decision for Bonn as the provisional federal capital of Germany, as there is enough space there to accommodate ministries, 2008.
From 1949 to 1999, the former police school was the first office of the Ministry of the Interior in Bonn, 1968.

In 1949, the Ministry of the Interior moved into a former police academy building. In 1969, a 12-storey structure was added, and since 1999 the Ministry has used this facility as a secondary official seat.
