The People's Republic of China (PRC) uses Schloss Rigal and its annexes in Bonn-Bad Godesberg today as a branch of the embassy in Berlin.

Embassy of the People’s Republic of China

1984–2001

Since 1972, the Federal Republic of Germany has maintained diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, whose first German embassy was housed in a former hotel in Wachtberg-Niederbachem from 1973 to 1984. Since then, the Chinese embassy has been headquartered in Bad Godesberg. Its building there, a 19th century mansion known as the Rigal‘sche Schloss, was renovated and three new edifices were added on to it.
